    New tourist route

By Hotel Editor / 29th November, 2016 / Sights, Tours / No Comments

“Krug oko Korita (The Circle around Gorges)” – one of the most fascinating and little-known hiking trails with panoramic views. Here are the Catholics and the Orthodox and the Muslims – all coexist in peace.

    His Majesty KOTOR

By Hotel Editor / 21st November, 2016 / Sights, Tours / No Comments

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. It is located in a secluded part of the Gulf of Kotor. The city has a population of 13,510 and is the administrative center of Kotor Municipality.

The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period. It is located on the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska), one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea. Some have called it the southern-most fjord in Europe, but it is a ria, a submerged river canyon. Together with the nearly overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen and Lovćen, Kotor and its surrounding area form an impressive and picturesque Mediterranean landscape.

    The Fortifications of Kotor

By Hotel Editor / 19th November, 2016 / Sights, Tours / No Comments

The fortifications of Kotor (Italian: Cattaro) are an integrated historical fortification system that protected the medieval town of Kotor containing ramparts, towers, citadels, gates, bastions, forts, cisterns, a castle, and ancillary buildings and structures. They incorporate military architecture of Illyria, Byzantium, Venice, and Austria. Together with the old town and its natural surroundings the fortifications were inscribed in the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979 labelled Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor and represent the only such site of cultural significance in Montenegro.

    Mratinje Dam

By Hotel Editor / 7th November, 2016 / Sights, Tours / No Comments

The Mratinje Dam is a concrete arch dam in the canyon of the Piva River in Montenegro.

The dam was completed in 1975/ Its construction resulted in the flooding of the Piva canyon and the creation of Lake Piva, which, with its 12.5 km², is the second largest lake in Montenegro.

The dam is 220 metres (720 ft) high, one of the highest in Europe.

    “Lonely planet” about Montenegro

By Hotel Editor / 19th October, 2016 / Sights, Tours / No Comments

John Broadley told Lonely Planet his experience in Montenegro was similarly inspiring. “Montenegro is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited in the world. The sheer faces of the mountains collide with the sea so abruptly and dramatically, it’s hard not to be in awe of the place!“ John visited the country with Untravelled Paths for a total of six days. He got to visit “two very different sides of the country”, he said, “from the busy streets of Kotor town to the sparse, rural national parks and mountain tops in Plav. They both offered equally beautiful scenery but were vastly different.”

The Montenegro drone video captures the dramatic landscapes, but also the bustling coastal towns that are becoming increasingly popular with tourists and cruise ships. “One minute you’re in the heart of one of the richest harbours in the world, and a ten minute drive away, you’re in the middle of rural Montenegro where all you can see is mountains and cows and the odd person here or there.” John said he can’t wait to go back to the country and had particular praise for the people he met there. “No matter where you went, everyone was very kind, helpful and welcoming.” The city of Kotor was chosen by Lonely Planet as their top city to visit in 2016 for Best in Travel.

The footage in this showreel was filmed by the JAAM Brothers on behalf of White Giant.

    Autumn in Montenegro

Look how, recorded from the air, some regions of Montenegro seem magical this autumn!

Njegusi – the heart of Montenegro

By Hotel Editor / 27th August, 2016 / Sights, Tours / No Comments

Having the altitude of around 900 m above the sea, Njegusi is the true air spa where the two climates intersect. It is almost untouched virgin area without any industry.
A special attraction is the old road from Kotor to village Njegusi, famous Lovćens serpentines, which consists of 25 turns and 25 km of the road.
Njegusi are particularly attractive in summer when the temperatures are much lower than on the coast. This is one of the most beautiful vantage points from which one can have a view of the Montenegrin coast and – if the weather permits – even the coast of Italy.
In Njegusi you can try the famous Njegus smoked ham – pršut, the cheese (which entered the German anthology of the world cheese in XVII century) and the honey. You could also visit the birthplace of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, where the recollections about this remarkable man, who was enlisted in the very top of world literature because of his poem “Mountain wreath”, are being kept.
